Indian Maritime University (IMU) invites applications from eligible candidates for the following posts on deputation basis / transfer on deputation basis. IMU was established by an Act of Parliament in 2008 in order to promote maritime studies and research and to achieve excellence in areas of marine science and technology, marine environment and other related fields. IMU is the first of its kind in the country created exclusively for the advancement of maritime studies. The University is in need of the following officers and staff to manage the University system covering its campuses viz. Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam and Cochin with Headquarters at Chennai.
1. Deputy Registrar
Pay Band : Rs.15600 ‐ 39100/‐ (PB‐3) + Grade Pay Rs. 7600/‐ / Rs.37400 – 67000 + GP 8700/‐ and allowances
Essential Qualification & Experience: A Master’s degree with at least 55% of the marks or its equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale along with :
(i) Nine years of experience as Assistant Professor in the AGP of Rs. 6000 and above with experience in educational administration,
or
(ii) Comparable experience in research establishment and/or other institutions of higher education,
or
(iii) 5 years’ of administrative experience as Assistant Registrar or in an equivalent post
Age Limit : 45 years
2. Deputy Finance Officer
Pay Band : Rs.15600 ‐ 39100/‐ (PB‐3) + Grade Pay Rs. 7600/‐ / Rs.37400 – 67000 + GP 8700/‐ and allowances
Essential Qualification & Experience: A Master’s degree with at least 55% of the marks or its equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale along with :
(i) Nine years of experience as Assistant Professor in the AGP of Rs. 6000 and above with experience in educational administration,

4. Assistant Finance Officer
Pay Band : Rs.15600 – 39100 (PB‐3) + Grade Pay Rs.5400/‐ and allowances.
Qualification & Experience: A Master’s degree with atleast 55% of the marks or its equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale along with a good academic record.
Age Limit : 35 years
5. Assistant Controller of Examination
Pay Band : Rs.15600 – 39100 (PB‐3) + Grade Pay Rs.5400/‐ and allowances.
Qualification & Experience: A Master’s degree with at least 55% of the marks or its equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale along with a good academic record.
Age Limit : 35 years
6. Assistant Librarian
Pay Band : Rs.15600 ‐ 39100/‐ (PB‐3) + Academic Grade Pay Rs. 6000/‐ and allowances.
Essential Qualification & Experience: Master’s degree in Library Science / Information Science / Documentation or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven point scale and consistently good academic record with digital library experience, computerization of library. Qualifying in the national‐level test conducted for the purpose by the UGC or any other agency approved by the UGC.

7. Radio Officer
(at IMU Headquarters, Chennai)
Radio Officer with Second Class COP & GOC with minimum 5 years sailing experience and 1 year teaching experience in Government approved maritime institutes.
Pay Band : Rs.15600 – 39100 PB3 + Grade Pay Rs.5400 and allowances.
Age Limit : 50 years
8. Medical Officer (at IMU Headquarters, Chennai)
Pay Band : Rs.15600 ‐ 39100/‐ (PB‐3) + Grade Pay Rs. 5400/‐ and allowances.
Qualification & Experience: MBBS degree from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks and at least 3 years experience in a reputed hospital in Government / PSU / Private Sector. Experience in ICU, trauma care is preferable.
Desirable : MD/MS/DNB with three years post PG experience in a large hospital.
9. Internal Audit Officer [at IMU Headquarters, Chennai]
Pay Band : Rs.15600 ‐ 39100/‐ (PB‐3) + Grade Pay Rs. 5400/‐ and allowances.
Essential Qualification & Experience: From among officers working in the Indian Audit & Accounts Department/Central/State
Government Departments with similar duties and responsibilities and having eight years of service in the scale of pay of Rs.6500‐200‐10500 (5th CPC).
10. Accounts Officer [at IMU Headquarters, Chennai ]
Pay Band : Rs.9300‐34800 + Grade Pay Rs. 4600/‐ and allowances.
Essential Qualification & Experience: Individuals with six years regular service in the scale of pay of Rs.5000‐8000 (5th CPC) in any Central/State University/Autonomous body/Central/State Government Department/Organisation possessing (i) Masters Degree in Commerce with atleast 55% of marks or Bachelor’s Degree with ICAI, ICWA, ICSI membership. (ii) 5 years experience in office work in an Educational Institution/Government Office. Experience in Computerized Accounting environment will be preferred.
11. Assistant Hindi Officer [at IMU Headquarters, Chennai]
Pay Band : Rs.9300 – 34800 + Grade Pay Rs. 4600/‐ and allowances.
Essential Qualification & Experience : Masters Degree in Hindi and holding analogous post in the Central/State Government/other Central Universities / Autonomous Bodies/Government Undertaking with at least 5 years working experience in Hindi Cell.
12. Public Relations Assistant (at IMU Headquarters, Chennai)
Pay Band : Rs.9300‐34800 + Grade Pay Rs. 4200/‐ and allowances.
For Deputation :.Individuals with six years regular service in the scale of pay of Rs.5000‐8000 (5th CPC) in any Central/ State University/ Autonomous Body/ Central/State Government Departments/Organisation possessing (i) Master’s Degree with at least 55% of marks or Bachelor’s Degree with Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations (ii) 5 years experience in Public Relating work in an Educational Institution / Government Office.
13. Section Officer

Pay Band : Rs.9300‐34800 + Grade Pay Rs. 4800 and allowances.
Individuals with six years regular service in the scale of pay of Rs.5000‐8000 (V CPC) in any Central/ State University/ Autonomous Body/ Central/State Government
Qualification: (i) Masters’s Degree with atleast 55% of marks or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven point Scale (or) a bachelors degree with CA (Chartered Accountant)
(ii) 5 years experience in office work in an educational institution/ Government office
Age: Maximum 45 years
14. PS to Vice Chancellor (at IMU Headquarters, Chennai)
Pay Band : Rs.9300‐34800 + Grade Pay Rs.4800/‐ and allowances.
Individuals with six years regular service in the scale of pay of Rs.5000‐8000 V CPC in any Central/ State University/ Autonomous Body /Central/State Government
Qualification: (i) Master’s Degree with at least 55% of marks or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven point Scale
(ii) Shorthand Junior Grade in English (80 wpm)
(iii) Typewriting Higher/Senior grade in English (45 wpm)/Proficiency in Computer Operations
(iv) 5 years experience in office work in an educational institution/Government office
Age: Maximum 45 years
15. Assistant

(iv) Worked as Junior Assistant with 5 years of regular service
