Qualifications for Assistant Professor
Good academic record with at least 55% marks (50% for candidates belonging to SC/ST or those who passed their Master's degree prior to 19.9.1991 and hold a Ph.D. degree) or an equivalent grade of B in the 7 point scale with letter grades O.A.B.C.D.E, & F at the Master's degree level in the relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a foreign university.
"NET/SLET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor. However, those candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in compliance of the "University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. degree). Regulation 2009. shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor". However, Ph.D. degree awarded by the University of Delhi at any point of time & Ph.D. degree of other Universities awarded before the coming into force of Regulations, 2009 i.e. 11th July 2009 are to be treated as have been awarded in compliance of UGC Regulations, 2009.
