The Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun, a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) is a premier National institute in the areas of Petroleum & hydrocarbon industry. It develops and transfers technologies to industries in the area of petroleum refining, natural gas, petrochemicals, chemicals and utilisation of petroleum products, provides technical services and imparts training to the personnel of the related industry and has strong international collaborations with industries and academia in India & abroad. Its achievements includes Seventy large scale technology developments (of which thirty eight have been commercialised with a cumulative refining capacity of over 38 million tonnes per annum), twenty –odd prestigious National and CSIR technology awards and the unique distinction of having served as alma mater to practically every captain of the petroleum industry in India.
